Boys Soccer Sweep North and South County

This past Friday, our Soledad Aztecs soccer team played their last home game and took on Marina in what came to be an easy win. Although Marina tried to put up a fight it was no use against our strong defense and fast power forwards. At one point, the game was tied 1-1, making the players and their fans a bit nervous. The Aztecs, with no surprise, held their ground and were able to finish the game with no further problems. The final score was 2-1 with goals from Senior Omar Gallegos (#17) and Sophomore Fabian Santano (#8). As the boys took the win, the fans got up in the stands and cheered them on with loud chants and matracas; Latin American noise makers.

With the excitement of their Senior Night win under their belt, the Aztecs went back on the field Tuesday with a lot of confidence. The boys played against the King City Mustangs; the last time these teams competed, the Aztecs failed to take the win. However, that was not the case this time as they took a 4-1 win against the South County High School. Sophomore Anthony Garcia (#11) was able to get past the Mustang defense and scored two of the Aztec goals. The Mustang defense was also no match for and fell short in comparison to Omar Gallegos who showcased beautifully once again and Sophomore Javi Lugo (#20). Both players contributed a goal to Soledad’s great win.
