This past Thursday, November 17, our MESA club along with a majority of Mr. Kingston’s science classes took a field trip to The California Academy of Science. The California Academy of Science is a natural history museum in San Francisco that houses over 26 million species. It is among one of the largest natural history museums in the world. Approximately 45 students had the opportunity to experience a real life earthquake, explore our evolutionary history while surrounded by African wildlife, study skull casts, explore the diversity in California's coastal water, and much more. When asked about their favorite exhibit, a majority of students commented on the amazing albino alligator in the museums “swamp” enclosure, the excessive amount of breathtaking butterflies that swarmed the 'rainforest' habitat, and the amazing food in the cafeteria. The MESA program is a club that promotes mathematics, engineering, and science achievement on our campus. This is one of the many field trips MESA and our science classes will be taking this school year. For more information about the MESA club, feel free to contact Mr. Kingston, Club President Alyssa Plascencia, or Club Vice-President Belen Torres.
