Campus Seniors Are Submitting College Apps

For the past 2 months, you have all been wondering what has been driving all Soledad High School seniors crazy. In just a matter of weeks, CSU and UC schools will begin accepting applications. Many Seniors have attended application workshops both for the UC’s and the CSU’s,walking students through the application process. Although, CSU applications began on Oct. 1 and UC applications began Aug. 1, both have submission deadlines set for Nov. 30.

While seniors still have a little more than over a week, for either UC or CSU’s, to submit their applications you should not wait till the last minute. "There have been, in past years, computer crashes where the system shuts down and students aren’t able to apply" said Mrs. Bobadilla. Whatever the reasons may be, students always fail to start the application process early and end up waiting till a week before they are due.

On-hand assistance in filling out applications has been made available in the career center for those seniors who have taken advantage of the last two months. “Counselors have pulled students out of class and sat down [with students] and to help explain the application process” said Bobadilla.

The Campus Life Editorial Team went ahead and formed an analysis of the two distinct Universities -

CSU Overview:

CSU campuses differ from UC's in their significantly lower tuition rates, smaller classroom sizes, practical application, and non research oriented academic offerings. With 23 CSU campuses to choose from, students are likely to find one that suits their academic interest and campus preferences.

San Diego State and CSU Long Beach are considered the most selective CSU campuses. CSU Channel Islands, CSU Fresno, and CSU Monterey Bay are some of the largest campuses. Humboldt State and Chico State are some of the smallest campuses in Northern California. Other campuses in Northern California include Sonoma State and Sacramento State. All located in the San Francisco area, CSU East Bay, San Francisco State, and San Jose State excel in academics. Because of their proximity to metropolitan Los Angeles, CSU Dominguez Hills, CSU Fullerton, CSU Los Angeles, CSU Northridge, and CSU San Bernardino provide students endless opportunities. CSU Bakersfield, CSU San Marcos, and CSU Stanislaus boast stellar student communities. Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo differentiate from the rest of the CSUs by their focus on applied sciences and technical arts.
