MTAL Opener
The Soledad High School boys’ basketball team jumpstarted their 2016-2017 season with a Jamboree on Friday, November 18, at Greenfield High School. In the four team mini-tournament, each team played 3 games split into 2, 6 minute scrimmages designed to help King City, Greenfield, Gonzales and Soledad teams practice their skills against each other before the season officially starts.
The Soledad Aztecs played Greenfield first where they won 12-4, highlighting their superior ball control and defensive skills. They then went on to play against King City and lost 20-16 due to their excessive amount of fouls and KC's strong defense. Nonetheless, the Aztecs came back with an overall finishing score of 24-18 against their final opponent, Gonzales, with Billy Holman's surprising dunk.
All teams played very well keeping great sportsmanship in mind throughout the whole tournament.
The season is looking great for our local teams, be sure to come out and support your Aztecs as they take on their 2016-2017 Basketball season!
