Aztecs Defy The 3-1 Lead
In a game that could be looked upon as a rematch from last season, our Aztec football team brought their A-game and nothing less to this Friday night’s game as they took on the Silver Creek Raiders. The team won their first CCS playoff game by a score of 37-13, making them the first ever Varsity football team in Soledad history to make it past the first round. However, there were a few superstitious students in the stands for the Aztecs as at one point they had a 21-7 lead; or as many people like to call it “The 3-1 Lead”. Regardless, our football team pressed on and continued to prove why they are ranked as the Number 2 Seed in the CCS playoffs.
With more than enough help from their offense, quarterback Robbie Santa Ana tossed a total of 128 yards of touchdown passes to Aaron Rodriguez (8 yards), Johnny Sanchez (47 yards), and Angel Olivas (73 yards). Along with a 23 yard touchdown run from Emmanuel Ortega and a 10 yard touchdown from Andrew Hernandez, sealing the deal and giving the Aztecs more than enough breathing room to win the game and go on to host the semi-final game against Gilroy High School; yet another first for the Soledad football program. So come on out and support our football team this upcoming Friday as they continue to leave their mark!
